Client Policies

Thank you for considering counselling with me. This page explains how sessions work, so you know what to expect before we begin. If anything is unclear, you are always welcome to ask.

Sessions and fees

  • Sessions are held online by video and last 50 minutes.

  • The fee is $150 per session.

  • Appointments are available on Fridays and Saturdays.

  • Sessions can be in English or Chinese.

  • Health fund rebates are not currently available.

Cancellations and missed sessions

Your session time is set aside just for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let me know at least 48 hours beforehand. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice, and missed sessions, are charged the full fee.

I understand that life does not always go to plan, especially when you are caring for someone who is unwell. If something serious or unexpected happens, please talk with me.

If I ever need to cancel, I will let you know as early as I can and offer another time at no cost to you.

Arriving late

If you join late, our session will still finish at the usual time so the next person is not kept waiting, and the full fee applies.

Online sessions

  • Please join from a quiet, private place where you won’t be overheard or interrupted.

  • Please be in Australia at the time of your session.

  • Sessions are not recorded by either of us.

  • At our first session, I will ask for an emergency contact and the address you are joining from, in case I ever need to arrange help for you.

  • If the connection drops, I will try to reconnect. If that doesn’t work, I will call you on the phone number you have given me.

Confidentiality

What you share in our sessions stays between us. There are a few situations where I may need to share information without your consent:

  • if I believe you, or someone else, is at serious risk of harm

  • if a child is at risk of harm

  • if I am required to by law, such as a court order

Like all counsellors, I take part in regular professional supervision to make sure I am giving you good care. When I discuss my work with my supervisor, I do not share your name or details that could identify you.

Young people

When I work with adolescents, a parent or guardian may need to give consent for counselling to begin. I will explain at the start what will stay private between the young person and me, and what may be shared with their parent or guardian.

If you are in crisis

Counselling sessions can’t provide emergency support. If you are in crisis or feel unsafe, please call 000, or Lifeline on 13 11 14 (24 hours, 7 days).

Feedback and concerns

If something in our work together doesn’t feel right, I would really like to hear about it. Please talk with me or email info@architectoflife.com.au. If you are not satisfied with my response, you can contact the Australian Counselling Association, of which I am a member.
